Brooks’ bespoke service is an in depth experience that takes you from start to finish of a bespoke piece just for you. The process of designing an artful piece of clothing requires a basic understanding of your personality and body type. It also requires trusting and collaborative interaction. Brooks strives to understand your clothing needs and your lifestyle (YES, includes denim pieces) so she can create the perfect-fitting magical garment for you. Great relationships happen when there is a sense of creativity, fun, and a challenge. This is what Brooks strives for with every design.

Marge’s goal was to have a dress that matched her cherished necklace.

“It was a dream to have a small idea and work with Brooks to turn it into a huge reality (one that got featured in Vogue!).” Cheryl Engelhardt/CBE Music

Hilary wanted an interesting color and durable silk fabric.  Pockets were a must.

Ellen wanted a strapless dress, we customized it with hand painted details in her color range.

Brooks creates custom pieces in two ways: transforming your cherished textiles into wearable art or designing an original garment from my curated fabric collection. Whether you bring me your mother’s silk or fall in love with one of my vintage-inspired designs that needs customization, the process is deeply collaborative and entirely handcrafted.

Custom-Fit Japanese
Cotton Tunic
A love affair with Japanese cotton customized for Karla’s measurements.  The Japanese cotton becomes a perfect canvas for accessorizing as her mood prevails.

Collaborative Kimono
Where artful textile design meets wearable art. The custom kimono celebrates the ongoing creative partnership, uniting Brooks’ signature silhouette with Madeleine O’Connell’s vibrant painterly textiles.

Reconstructed Parisian
Workwear Jacket
Walli’s beloved Paris tote gets a second act as a denim workwear jacket! This playful reconstruction honors the original tote while creating something entirely new- our workwear piece.

Contemporary Tuxedo Dickey
A cheeky nod to the 1970s dickey, reimagined with dramatic ruffles. Tina’s vintage Brooks LTD tailored silk faille jacket turns classic tailoring into a modern cropped tuxedo version.

The Journey from Inspiration to Wearable Art

1. The First Conversation

Every extraordinary garment begins with a conversation. Join me for a 30-minute Zoom exploration where we’ll dive into your vision, aesthetic desires, and the story you want your clothing to tell. We’ll discover if my design language speaks to your personal style—and if you’re nearby, we can meet in my studio where the magic happens.

2. Translating Vision into Form

I’ll translate our dialogue into sketches that capture the essence of your piece. A design deposit opens the door to this creative phase, where you’ll see your garment taking shape on paper. Together, we’ll play with fabric personalities, silhouettes, proportions, and color harmonies. This investment flows seamlessly into your final piece.

3. The Making Begins

Choose your favorite design iteration. If you’re providing your own textile, we’ll discuss the best way to showcase it. If selecting from my collection, you’ll choose the perfect fabric. Share your measurements using my guide or let me take them if we can meet in person. With your creation deposit (half the garment cost, less your design deposit), I begin the intimate process of constructing your piece by hand.

4. The Reveal

After a fitting where we refine every detail to perfection, your garment becomes yours to wear and cherish. Each piece is an original, crafted specifically for your body and your life. The creation process honors the time true artistry requires—typically 6-8 weeks from conception to completion. (Photo #4)
